The simplest way to “install” the Windows versions on a 64-bit OS is to simply copy the HEROES and HEROES2 directories from their respective CDs. Fortunately, there is no real need for the installer, as all it does is copy some files from the CD to the hard drive nothing needs to be unpacked and game configuration in the registry is created/updated automatically when you run the games.

One problem becomes immediately evident if you try to install the game on a 64-bit version of Windows – although there “Autorun” front-end can be launced, it redirects to a 16-bit installer stub, which does not run.
